Hi, I have been suffering with an achy pain in my left breast for a few months now which radiates into my armpit & top of my arm. I went to see my Dr last month & she examined me and said that she couldn't find anything abnormal in either of my breasts so she said it could be hormonal. I went back last week as the pain hasn't changed & saw a locom again she examimed me & didn't find any lumps she thinks it could be anxiety that is giving me the pain however she has referred me to the breast clinic. I am panicking now with all sorts of things going on in my head. I even began to think that if she had found something would she have told me in case of making my anxiety worse. Has anyone had breast pain without lumps

understandable to be anxious - first of all, breast pain is unlikely to = cancer, but it is wise to have it checked. It could well be anxiety related and therefore a bit of a vicious circle. The breast clinic will probably examine you and do a mammogram and/or ultrasound - the breast care nurses will understand your anxiety and will be gentle and kind I'm sure. If you'd like some hand holding do nip over to the tamoxifen thread- we have all been through this,so understand Smile

I had breast pain a few years ago, not long after a mammogram and core biopsy (turned out to be a harmless fibroadenoma). So I was pretty sure there was nothing wrong, however, I was referred to the Royal Marsden to be checked over, and it turned out to be costochondritis - an inflammation of the underlying ribs. Hope yours turns out to be something just as innocuous!
