Dd, periods and OCD

dd is 14and started her periods last year.
They are erratic, can be very heavy and her OCD and general mental health gets worse in the days beforehand. As she's having periods every 17-20 days at the moment, life isn't much fun for her.
She is worried about having her period on holiday-she is reluctant to try tampons yet.
Is it worth chatting to the doctor about it? Is going on the pill for a time the only solution?

The pill should regulate her periods so at least they will be predictable. If her mental health is not good because of the periods this could give her some control. Go chat to your GP and see what he thinks, good luck!

Hi
I had very similar issues to you DD. i feel like i should warn you the pill may make it worse. If its hormones that make her worse there is no reason why the pill wouldnt do the same. I know some pills are different but i tried several and they made me much worse in the week i had to stop taking them to allow me to have a period.
Comin off them was also hard , i think as it was such a shock to my body to suddenly not having any hormones in it rather than the gradual rise and fally naturally - which was still not good for me.
Id would also personally advice against the pill (sorry cant remember the name) that delays your period. For me it was a horrific experience. I now have not used any form of hormonal contraceptive for 5 years and never intend to again.
However i dont want to scare you off , everyone is different and it may work for your DD. Just something to bear in mind.
