molluscum contagiosum

DS2 (4) has had a dozen wart-like spots around his armpit and having googled, it looks like he has a case of molluscum contagiosum. I'm going to take his to the doctors but I'm not sure if they can give him anything. It's a viral skin complaint and the best thing seems to be to sit it out and it will go on it's own.

Has anyone any experience of it?

dd had quite a lot including on her face and the crook of her arm. I tried a couple of treatments e.g. zymaderm and colloidal silver but they never helped and they went on their own. DS had it too but only had a few and they went away faster.

It will go on it's own, DS had them under his arm and so does one of my minded girls.

Use neat tea tree oil on a cotton bud, it does help.

There's not a lot you can do about mollescum. My DD had it for about 18 months. Every time we thought they were going another few appeared. The worst time was when the ecszema around one got infected and she had a large patch of weeping skin infection on her bicep for about 6 months. Four courses of antibiotics and umpteen creams and bath additives and eventually it shifted. The mollescum was still there mind. Eventually they go away on their own. Don't let DD scratch or pick at them or else they will scar or get infected.

Thanks all.

I'll get some tea tree oil and see if that helps. Touch wood, he isn't bothered by the spots at the moment. They do seem to randomly get bigger & smaller though so I'll keep my eye on them.
