Beg, borrow or steal some cranberry juice? Couldn't you get to a 7-11 or something? Be careful not to drink too too much water, as you can get ill from that.

ThatVikRinA22 · 24/04/2011 05:25

will 7 - 11's be open on easter sunday? if so ill send DH. penance for snoring.

i really am starting to feel dreadful, i want to sleep but i cant because i just feel like im bursting for a wee....nothing there when i go but pain!

ive taken another powder sachet....took first one as soon as it started. its meant to be a 48 hour course.

this is bloody typical. im back to work on tuesday - itd better be gone by then.

If you have a fever with it, blood in the urine or feel unwell it may be a UTI - the OOH GP is available just like any other weekend if you need it - the powders won't get rid if it is an infection.

Little shops may be open today - like spar shops/corner shops. And there will be a duty chemist too, NHSDirect will have the details for the chemist if you ring.

Pain relief - have some paracetamol or ibuprofen maybe?

ThatVikRinA22 · 24/04/2011 05:35

yeah think ill try paracetamol as im now really in discomfort

might end up trying ooh as peeing snot...sorry tmi!

trouble will be finding a chemist round here that is open

OP posts:
eggyminniewhingesagain · 24/04/2011 05:44

ring them on 08454647, they can tell you where the duty chemist are open if you give them the postcode. It's not on the website - phone numbers for the local chemists are though.

eggyminniewhingesagain · 24/04/2011 05:45

Some areas do a Care at the Chemist Scheme/Minor Ailments scheme where you can get antibiotics from a chemist without seeing the GP as well, may be worth a try

ThatVikRinA22 · 24/04/2011 06:07

thanks eggy

will try that number. i think i might need ABs. its not letting up, in fact i think its getting worse, and its making my toes curl/

got ABs...now just got to find an open chemist...

OP posts:
topsi · 24/04/2011 09:20

Oh you poor thing. Ask the pharmacist if you can take a double dose of abx when you get them, just to get them into your system. Also I would reccommend not to drink cranberry during an attack as it will make your urine acidic and burn more. Use it as a preventative not a cure. Stick to water, no tea/coffee or alcohol untill you are 100% better. Also take paracetamol and ibuprofen together. Try sitting in a warm bath as this can sometimes help.

ThatVikRinA22 · 24/04/2011 13:50

thanks every one

DH drove to the nearest open chemist (miles away!) and got my ABs. i went back to bed and did manage a bit of a sleep. still not well but not in as much discomfort. ill keep sipping water, but i made myself feel well and truly sick this morning drinking so much.

You will probably be feeling the benefit by tomorrow afternoon, at least a bit better I would hope. Glad you got something sorted[busmile]

LolitaLempiicka · 26/04/2011 13:28

I suffer with recurrent cystitis triggered mainly be sex and dehydration and although AB's worked the first few times, I think my body became immune to them so they started being completely useless and it was always to bad to be fended off with sachets and water. I read somewhere about taking a supplement every day to prevent it (like you would with vitamins etc) so I take hI-Cran which are a combination tablet of cranberry and hibiscus extract (would highly recommend). Every time I had sex I would get cystitis afterwards without fail and fingers crossed I haven't got a single twinge of it since I've been taking hI-Cran.
If this ends up being a recurrent thing then it may be worth looking into taking something like this as it has really helped me.

ThatVikRinA22 · 26/04/2011 20:00

thanks - its just about gone but im still on ABs for another 3 days, still drinking water like its going out of fashion, i hope to goodness it doesnt recur, i couldnt stand it.

i dont seem to get it very often - last time august 2009, before that years ago, but if its something that does recur (god forbid) i would try just about anything! thanks for the tip.

if there is a next time, getting in the bath helps too.
