DS is 7 and I would say fit and healthy.
He has a little lump in his neck - about 1cm big.
I've just noticed it but it could have been there a while, I don't know.
I absolutely daren't google it.
Is it the sort of thing that just happens sometimes? I will get it checked out.
(I think I just want a wee bit of reassurance.)

I had one of these once in my groin, I went to the doctor and he told me that they can just come up sometimes if you have been ill or run down/tired and it would go back down. Mine went down after a couple of weeks.

Just pop to the GP and get it checked out, sure it will all be ok though.

He's been really well though (had a fluey virus in Feb) - nothing to worry about.
Of course I did google and am shitting myself now - read about lymphoma and night sweats (which he does get).
Crap. Have to wait until Tuesday I suppose. Aaarghghghg.
(I realise it is most likely an innocent swollen lymph node but you can't help worrying, eh?)

Do NOT google - it really is awful.
I can understand you are worried about him, but sure it is just a swollen node.

If he has been really well, as you say he has, then it is most unlikely to be lymphoma.

Are his night sweats drenching sweats where you have to change the whole bed and his night clothes or is he just sweating a bit because he is too hot?

Dd almost always has these, sometimes both sides, sometimes just one.
She is a sweaty betty who has always slept without covers....
She gets bad throats, tonsilitis, that sort of stuff.
DO NOT GOOGLE!
Get him checked out, and try not to worry.

Late night worries eh?
He got up this morning absolutely full of the joys of spring. He's completely full of vitality. He is not an ill child.
I am going to take him to the dr anyway.

My DS who is 7 has this...i took him to the doc who wasn't overly concerned..he referred us to a paediatrician just to be on the safe side and they were even less concerned...they did do blood tests but all was well.

One thing that both the GP and the paediatrician kept saying was that if it was anything serious there was no way he'd be so well!!! I'm sure your DS is fine :)

ConnorTraceptive · 24/04/2011 23:38

I have had this recently and also googled. Bad idea! Anyway dr did a blood test as mine had been like it for over 2 months everything came back fine it has gone down but is still noticeable some people are Prone to swollen glands.

Nights sweats and swollen glands can also be related to over active thyroid

Thanks so much for the replies, you've been very reassuring. Smile
