Oh ffs It's not going to be good news, is it?

I've posted on the health board a couple of times about having low level chronic pancreatitis problems; and recently that I was having tests as I have been constantly nauseous, am tender around the upper left abdo area and have lost weight.

I had an endoscopy last wednesday, and on my 'take home' sheet, it said that everything was normal, but I will be referred for an ultrasound. So far so good, right?

Well I just had a phone call from the consultant's secretary - he wants to see me first thing tomorrow morning. She told me she couldn't tell me why, but that I had to come in.

It's not going to be anything good is it?

I've been lurking..
Very pleased that all seems ok but I agree with others that the receptionist should have been told to indicate that you shouldn't worry as it was just a review of your treatment.
Disgraceful you were made to worry so much.

gailforce1 · 20/04/2011 15:11

Hope that the change of meds works for you and that you can enjoy the Easter weekend.

When you next see the cons I would definitely mention to him that you were unnecessarily worried and distressed by the receptionist's message and perhaps this could be reviewed?

kuckingfunt · 20/04/2011 15:12

Oh I am so glad it went well for you Smile

I got home, danced around the house for a while just to annoy my dh Wink and went back to bed to catch up on the sleep that I didn't get last night.

It's good to know that somebody is finally taking this seriously, and I'm not having to keep going back to the gp constantly.

Yay!!

I totally didn't mention the secretary thing to him; my brain was completely blank until after, but I will be in the unit next week for the scan, so I am going to have a quiet word.

I still can't drink, but want everyone to have a Wine on me Grin

Oh, I am SO relieved you are OK!

Abr1de · 20/04/2011 17:20

...But surely someone could have just told you it wasn't anything to worry about? Grrrhhhh.

OnEdge · 20/04/2011 17:20

Thank FUCK !

2BoysTooLoud · 20/04/2011 17:24

Any excuse for a drink Bear.. Thanks for giving me permission!! Wine
Cheers and have a nice relaxing evening.

Pheebe · 20/04/2011 18:37

Fantastic news Grin A quiet word is definitely the way to go. I had to have a head CT to rule out a few nasties. As you can imagine the waiting was torture. I called the consultants secretary and she was able to tell me that the scan was all clear so they are allowed to give out some information.

Bearskinwoolies · 21/04/2011 03:30

Thanks all - I was working this evening so definitely NOT relaxing, but had a laugh about it all.

I just have to get to grips with the new meds now - cholestyramine. I've not heard much about it, but will google and find out everything Smile

I wanted to return and report - went in for the scan on Thursday, and in passing mentioned about the phone call etc; the secretary/receptionist apologized and said that she had had no idea that what she had said would have caused such a reaction.

The scan itself wasn't such a success - there's an anomoly on my liver so I will have more tests asap to find out exactly what it is.

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 30/04/2011 21:26

Well I hope she 'gets' it now Hmm

I hope the other tests go OK. I have had a few on my liver - IF they do a biopsy do not let them start until the local is working properly - stupid Dr doing mine was in a hurry and started too soon... I wont go into details.

Let us know, when you know, when your tests are. I would tell you to try not to worry...but it's really a pointless thing to say isn't it :( I hope the tests are done quickly and it's nothing to worry about x

Bucharest · 01/05/2011 10:42

What Chipping says!

Hope you are feeling better and have some proper answers soon.

Bearskinwoolies · 01/05/2011 21:05

Thanks Chipping and Bucharest; your kind words are very much appreciated.
