the reason I ask in that my ds 6, came home from school yesterday in agony and rushed straight to the loo and had a poo, it turns out he did not want to go at school as last time he did, his teacher made the remark "you have taken a long time", so because of this he said he not going at school.

I had a word with the teacher who was very nice and basically an innocent remark upset him, the thing what makes it worse it that my husband has an incurable bowel disease (ulcerative colitis) it does affect his life sowhat, so a poo is made a bigger deal in our house than probably normal houses. there is a slim chance that it could be hereditry. The thing is the teacher did say that he does take at least 10 mins. TBH I not noticed this as home as not there with a stop watch, I just though all men took ages to go. So now I am starting to think, Does he really take longer than normal?

Any advice comments would be great.

I have stood in the ladies toilets in TGIFriday waiting for 20 minutes for my 3 yr old - believe me that was a loooooooooooong time.

ds2 takes much longer than ds1

My dd sometimes takes 20 seconds, sometimes 15 minutes. She witholds rather than using the loo at school too, although for a different reason, and it's leading to her not being able to go when she gets home, so I'd be cross if a teacher said something like that and made her even more reluctant to go.

At that age there's nothing a child can do to hurry it along - it takes as long as it takes!

aahhh. the poo thing! my Ds2(6) sits on the loo for ages. we have a conversation while he is going!! hear everything that has happened at school! I think he sits on the loo as soon as he feels it,so it takes longer.Whereas my other 2 leave it to the last minute and go very quickly.. I wouldn't leave any issues at school,as it can lead to major toilet problems.(friends experience)
