I am waiting to see gastro specialist after 6 months of hell.

These are my symptoms:

dizzy/lightheaded
pain that I get under both ribs (just under boobs)
vomitting
pain goes into back
2 stone weight loss
occasional pain in chest towards right breastbone
constipated a lot

I can't see a pattern with it being worse after eating anything in particular, it just seems to be anything can set it off. It also isnt horrendous every minute of the day, it comes and goes.

I am getting desparate now though, had every blood test you can think of, had brain scan, had ultra sound for gallstones. My next step is to see the gastro specialist.

I have thought it could be a peptic ulcer, a duodenal ulcer, gallstones, ibs.

Anyone any idea and can any of the above make you feel dizzy?

I'm really getting down about this now - I can't plan anything as I never know how I will feel, I can't work as I am ill almost everyday. I had to cancel a holiday as I wasn't well enough to go, I can't even plan to even go and see friends as I just don't feel up to it. I feel like my life is on hold until I find out what is wrong. Today has been a bad day, pain and vomitting and I have spent most of it in tears to my DF - it has been going on 6 months now and I am so fed up of it.

trouble is I am severely claustrophobic - I can't even look under the bed if something is lost. So I am sort of reluctant to push for and MRI - I am thinking CT scan?

RichTeaAreCrap · 08/11/2011 20:12

Burning, didn't realise you hadn't had a CT scan. That's awful after all your symptoms.

Ultra sounds only show so much, Lisa is right. You need a CT scan - can you push for that? If you are claustrophobic CT would be much better than an MRI.

RTAC - I will do if I get something else as leverage, i.e., if I get worse, just watching and waiting at the moment. GP is not going to offer anything else based on situation as it is. I'll also check with health insurance what else if anything I am entitled to now - again I think I have to have new symptoms.

So what did everyone think of that Food Hospital (?) programme on ch 4 - food for thought (crap pun intended) - ?

Julialyne · 10/11/2011 05:02

That sounds awful. How are you now. Is there another dr that you can see as it seems that you have been suffering a long time now. Have you been given any medication? I expect will have a camera down to check the stomach & maybe a barium meal. I hope you get a diagnosis soon. Let us know how you get on.

damn :( bloods came back normal, i dont know why they always insist on doing the same set of bloods, nothing ever shows up Angry
Im not sure if i can keep going till end of dec, when i finally get to see gastro doc :(

BurningBridges · 10/11/2011 20:57

Oh lisad, that's what they do to me. A set of tests that will pretty much always come up normal. Never liver function, or amalayse, or even CA markers, just routine bloods.

This wait must seem eternal. How are you today anyway?

lisad123 · 10/11/2011 21:39

They always do infection markers, full blood count and kidney function. They tested for calcium this time, as heart rate is quite high but cardio done all checks and it's not the heart, they think chemical. My urine is still clear as water and I'm still in pain. I'm worrying whether to go back every week until I get some answers now Wink or just hold out till gastro appointment in dec

BurningBridges · 14/11/2011 11:22

How are you today lisad? This might raise a wry smile - went to GP on Friday she said unless I get worse, no more tests. This is only one of the odd things she came out with - I asked her if she could explain why my abdomen had been distended since July - so I am not talking about bloating, I am talking about it being swollen from chest to groin. She said "Its fat". I said well, yes I know, Hmm but I've always been fat, but I've never woken up one day with a swollen abdomen that remains that way for nearly 4 months. So she said as you get older, fat moves around. So really I should be thankful I didn't wake up one day and it had all moved to the end of an arm or something. So I have imagined all the other pain in the stomach, groin, back etc., in fact all I have is an Incredible Moving Fat Disease.

BurningBridges · 15/11/2011 09:01

What will you do? Is it worth going back to GP?

lisad123 · 15/11/2011 11:55

Will see if my full period arrives or not as not due for another week but been bleeding on and off since Saturday. I will see GP if not feeling better by friday
