How painful is endometrial ablation?

Had appt with the gynae today and am booked in for ablation, laparoscopy and hystoscopy. I've had a lap done before so know about the gas pain.

I heard a nurse years ago say how painful ablation is. I asked today and she was a bit non commital.

How long am I likely to be off work for?

I had this done 5 years ago. I had endo all over the back of my womb, on one tube and both ovaries.

I should also say i have a clotting disorder so i wasn't allowed anti-inflammatories like ibuprofen.

I was not allowed back to work for 10 weeks (but i am a primary teacher so it's a full on job)

I swoll up a lot and felt distinctly 'bruised' inside for about a month. BUT it was so so worth it. I was in a lot of daily pain before it. It is now 5 years down the line and i am only in pain half if the month!

So in short, it hurts but so so worth it.

10 weeks - sweet Jesus!

I'm a midwife so another "full on" job. The nurse said that the brochre says to have 3 days off but they normally tell people to take a week off.

Occy health only "let" us have 8 weeks off for a hysterectomy and moan if people are off longer.

I had 2 or 3 days off work, no pain and recovered very quickly!

Will watch this with interest, I have a gynae referral next week to discuss...

The stuff I'd read from BUPA website and another hospital seemed to be the 3-5 days off work type stuff but did say that was for sedentary type roles..

2 or 3 days sounds better, hopefully it will be more like that for me. Guess I'll have to wait and see.

Sorry, talking rubbish, my brain has turned to mush. I didn't have ablation, I had lazer treatment for endometriosis so disregard what I said above!!
