10 week wait for breast unit assessment? Is this right?

I was referred by my gp today because of (sorry if this is tmi) bloody discharge and pain in one of my breasts.

He said it was a 10 week wait. I thought the target was 2 weeks.

I am pretty worried, tbh. Does this sound like a normal wait? I'm in Wales.

(incidentally he knows full well I am worried and he's requested I be contacted if there is a cancellation-but I don't know what the odds of this would be anyway)

Sorry to hear that you're worried. Keeping busy helps Smile

I'm in Wales too. My GP referred me at the beginning of February and I've not had an appointment date yet.

I'm ABM. My GP doesn't think that the lump I've found is serious. In my LHA, the 2 week target is for urgent cases.

I know it's a worry, but for 9 out of 10 women the breast changes are found to be benign.

Hello - I know there is the 2 week target for urgent referals - possibly your GP isn't too concerned ? but obviously you are very anxious - it is awful to have to wait so long. If you'd like some hands to hold and perhaps some more information have a look at the tamoxifen thread here in general health..everyone on it has been through the horrible waiting bit.
