Growing pains??

My 4 year old DS often complains of pain in his feet, mainly in the evening or at night. I suffered with growing pains terribly as a young child. Today ds said his feet hurt on the way home from school, so I gave him some calpol when we got in (3.45ish). He is complaining and crying saying that his legs/feet still hurt really bad, only 2 hours after I gave him the calpol. Does this sound like growing pains or something else?

It sounds like growing pains, but strange the calpol didn't do the trick.

Are the pains sort of non-specific, i.e. does he have a hard time saying exactly where it hurts? I should think that since (a) this is a pattern and (b) you had growing pains yrself as a child, it's likely to be that. But if it seems in any way dif from the usual night-time growing pains, maybe consider it might not be that after all? I'd hold off on giving more calpol, though, for another couple of hours, even if he is crying. I'd try to distract him with cuddles, and stroking the area that hurts, etc.

What ended up happening heartmum? Did your ds feel better after a spell, or do you continue to have concerns?
