Ear Infection - how long for antibiotics to work?

I have had an ear infection since last monday so approx 10 days. Got ear drops last thurs but ear got worse so went to out of hours doc on sunday who gave oral antibiotics.
I still have a lot of pressure in my ear and feel really deaf in it and just wondered how long this will last ?

My son has a bit of a history of ear infections and it can take the whole week for the antibiotics to work, if we haven't caught it early. Having said which, if you're noy better by the end of the week, I'd consider going back on Friday.

Thanks for replying bisy. I am really hoping by friday I can hear better as dh is taking me to theatre to see Dirty Dancing as my birthday prezzie. I find I can manage with one noise at a time but if say the tv is on and people are talking as well I can't hear any of it properly :(

I was thinking of trying to see doc on thurs if not better, although probably nothing he can do for friday so will have to keep fingers crossed.
