Tingling hand and arm.. spreading

About 3-4 weeks ago, when I did certain things, the thumb part of my right arm tingled. Thats stopped but its spread to my arm and hand where, almost like it starts to go dead but not quite there.

It depends on what I do but its getting very irritating.

I also have a massive knott in my neck and last weekend when I woke up, I had vertigo, only lasted one day.

Can it be caused by stress or something to do with the neck, do you think? Hmm

Ask your doctor for an MRI. I have exactly the same symptoms as you and following an MRI, I was told I have a cervical (neck) slipped disc. Coincidentally, I have had vertigo for nearly a year, but my neurosurgeon is adament that it is not linked to the slipped disc. You may or may not have slipped a disc or trauma to your neck, but any tingling sensations should be checked out. Good luck.

Sorry 'adamant' - must review before sending in future!

I managed to get a cancellation, and GP said to take ibuprofen for week, hopefully help muscle to relax, massage it out - should help the nerves in my arm.

As the vertigo was a one off... not an issue at the moment. As I have full strength and use of arm/hand, again not great concern at moment.

If it doesn't start to work in 3-4 days, let her know and she'll refer me to Physio - fairly big knott and also shoulder tight.

Problem I have though, is working at desk all day and driving really doesn't help it. But I'm not one to take time off work for that, but at same time - very lame excuse :o Maybe I should give it a whirl Hmm lol

Oh well... see how I get on with the drugs, heat and massage.

Maybe, I should stay off the laptop for a couple of weeks too!

I found using a mouse mat with integral wrist support and a wrist support for the key board really helped.I also got work to supply a head set as I spend most of the day on the phone
I was also advised to take regular stretching breaks and make sure my seat was the right height for me
Good idea to stay off the laptop too if you are not sitting 'properly'
I find that even a short while on the laptop, on my lap iyswim sets off pain in my arm and shoulder
