Inguinal hernia - complications - help!

OH had Inguingal (tum/groin area) hernia repair done four nights ago and he's still in real pain it's no better. He says the pain's not in the scar site but lower and like a bad burn. OH worried it might be a trapped nerve but the Doc said it's probably not and is just 'referred pain' and to wait n see how it develops.

Does anyone have experience of an Inguinal hernia and how long it takes to be able to walk hobble-free please? Thanks
