Ive been prescribed this today for tonsilitis because ive had it 3 times now in the space of 2 months :( I was just reading through the leaflet and came across the scary side effects!!!!! Like

  • life threatening irregular heart beat Shock
  • severe allergic reactions
  • confusion
  • changes in the sense of reality-panicky feelings
  • hearing loss
  • kidney problems
  • fits

And loads more!! Also

  • you may require urgent medical treatment and hospitilisation Shock

I never read the side effects on drugs as i wouldn't take them if i did, so why did i have to see these?!!

I don't want to take them.........has anyone taken them and been ok? They are HUGE too. I really don't want to take them now :( What should i do?!!

they HAVE to list complications, any thing you do has complications. Crossing the road has a chance of:

  • death
  • broken bones from being hit/falling
  • tripping over
  • being beeped at by a car

they are there to warn...but there is a MINIMAL chance of any of that happening. Just read a packet of paracetamol's complications....

I had them recently for a chest infection and I'm still alive at the moment. Will agree that they are bloody huge tho!!

raindroprhyme · 07/04/2011 09:32

i would take them they have to list side effects even it only effected a tiny amount of people in teh clinical study.
better than getting complications from tonsilitis.

Oh i always do dylthan. Ive had 2 10 day courses of amoxycillin and still it is back. Ive only taken 2 of these stronger ones and the pain is nearly gone! :) got to take them for 14 days and then hopefully it will be gone for good!!
