What do you know about lymph node testing?

My friend has to go into hospital for lymph node testing. She has breast cancer and they need to run the additional tests before the op. They've done some already but they've proved inconclusive.

Only this time she has to go in overnight.

Is it painful?

Will she be uncomfortable when she comes out?

Obviously I will talk to her about it, but can't this evening and would like honest opinions from people who have gone through it.

Theres two ways of doing it, but the normal way of doing it is to inject some weakly radioactive liquid into the tumour, and then they use a detector to see where the radiation goes - it will be trapped in the lymph nodes so they can find them. It doesn't hurt

Oh gawd she did tell me that about injections. Blush

Sad

Thank you. I'm loosing track of information myself, I dread to think how she feels.
