Help my teeth have suddenly gone black

Can any one shed any light? I just noticed my bottom front teeth have black stains on them that wont brush off.

I have always been told by the dentist that my teeth are good, and dental hygiene is good. My teeth have always been yellow, but its not stains, its the colour they are.

I dont smoke, I do drink tea, but I am 42 and have drunk tea since I was a kid, so it doesnt explain the sudden stains all over my bottom teeth.

I did have an op, with GA, just over a week ago, and I have been on all sorts of painkillers for the last week or so, so I am wondering if this is the cause. I have also started eating stacks of prunes cos the painkillers bung me up. Other than that, I haven't made any changes.

Any help much appreciated....

It could be a drug reaction. Keep your teeth very clean and go see the dentist.

will do. Have showed the kid my black teeth and told them its because I forgot to brush my teeth a couple of times when I was in hospital having the op. They are brushing their teeth without argument now ha ha ha

Some antibiotics make teeth go brown / discoloured so it's probably a reaction to the meds you are on. My dh had really dark staining once from ammoxycilan (sp?). It wore off soon after he finished the course.
