Is there a way? Few children I work with have it and wondered if there was a way to prevent as I now have a very itchy eye!!

Hand washing remains the most effective way to prevent the spread of any infective agents. It sounds such a simple thing but it's something I do routinely being a nurse and the results in our hospital speak for themselves.

Also clean door handles daily if there's been infection around as it's the easiest way to pick something nasty up.

Avoid touching your eyes and face as much as possible and throw out any eye make-up which could be infected to prevent re-infection.

You can buy a product called Brolene from the chemists which will treat it.

At our nursery and playgroup parents are asked not to bring a child with conjunctivitis as it is so infectious.

Hope this helps! I feel for you as my eyes have been itching in sympathy as I write this.
