What is this weird alien lump that popped out of my tummy? A bit worried.

I have got a doctors appt but not for two weeks. I have a really weird lump under the base of my rib cage, feels quite hard and moves when i touch it. The strange thing is it feels for the life of me like a baby kicking or turning sometimes and other times its just kind of pulsing. There is no way I could be pregnant as have the coil.

I leant forward the other day and got cramp in my stomache and it pushed itself out so I could see it protruding out, after a while I was able to massage it back inside. I am not going to scare myself by googling has anyone else had something like this at all it's really worrying me now.

hernia?

I have something like this; I call it my alien baby.

Have had it for years, don't know what it is and have never bothered to find out. it's not there when I'm slim - only when I've put a bit of weight on.

mummyplonk · 01/04/2011 14:46

Oh thats interesting malovitt, I have had it about 6 months and even did a pregnancy test at the beginning, it's so strange have had only a few days of stomache ache apart from that it dosnt hurt. We are exclusive members to the Alien antenatel thread (which may last a while)

I have heard of hernias in the groin thanks maglet & Qofe I didnt think it could be that in my stomache. If it is that I wonder if you just live with it if it's not causing pain?

Well personally, I really wouldn't. It's probably nothing, but a professional opinion would stop you worrying about it. FWIW, I reckon hernia also. They don't have to be in the groin.

Sounds like a hernia (especially the bit about massaging it back in). They don't always appear in the groin - I had one in my abdomen. It's not something you should ignore whether its causing pain or not -I would get it checked out - good luck Smile

Another vote for hernia.

Something like this happened to me. I was tugging off an iceskate and something popped, but went back in. It kept happening, off and on, usually when I was tying my shoelaces. I could get it to go back by stretching.

The doctor said that I'd damaged the muscles holding my bottom rib in place. When I leant forward my bottom rib, instead of being held in place by muscle, was sliding under the second bottom rib. The protruding bit was the end of the second bottom rib being pushed out.

The doctor said it's not unusual, and nothing to worry about.

But get it checked out to put your mind at rest.
