I am being brave and have made an appointment to see a gp about this. unfortunately mine is on maternity leave so I don't know the gp I am going to see.

I have a bmi of 17.5 This month for the first time ever my period is almost non-existent. I'm quite sure I ovulated but I'm getting no more than very light spotting. Usually my periods are really heavy. I've also been feeling faint a lot. Sometimes at really embarrassing or inconvenient times. I am permanently cold.

My question is, what will the gp do about it? I don't have an ED, I eat regularly and reasonable portions but my appetite is probably lower than many. I am quite an anxious person and my anxieties are quite high at the moment, for which I am seeing a professional. How is the gp likely to respond?

I guess he/she will try to find out whether the low appetite is the result of psychological or physiological problems. They'll order a blood test, I should imagine.

BMI of 17.5, while low, doesn't seem to me to be low enough to stop menstruation- but then I'm not a doctor.

Good luck.

Thank you winnybella. It could be one of those things and I might be putting 2+2=5

It might be that you are stressed rather than your weight. My bmi is 16.5 and my periods have been alright apart from a late start.

It could be that too. Life has been somewhat hectic and quite stressful. Thinking back over the past couple of months, I had noticed that they were getting lighter - no flooding and shorter. Odd. I'm glad I've made an appointment. I think I need a bit of an MOT, I feel a bit rubbishy overall.
