Ovarian Cyst

I was wondering if anyone knows if you an ovarian cyst, does it hurt all the time?

I've started getting pain around where my right ovary is, its very painful. Also at the same time i've started getting pain on the bottom right hand side of my back which is really really painful.

The pain started towards the end of my last period & has been on & off since then. I'm used to pain from my left ovary but i've never even felt a twinge from my right ovary until recently.

I had a gyne appointment today about my heavy periods & mentioned it to the doctor who dismissed it straight away & said it wouldn't be a cyst & that its more likely to be scar tissue as i've had 4 c-sections.

The pain is worrying me but he didn't seem concerned at all & was really quite rude & dismissive about all the things i went to talk to him about. Even if it was scar tissue, i was either expecting him to feel my stomach or send me for a scan just to be on the safe side but he did neither.

Thanks

I have been having the same pain on my right ovary since last month, constant pain also around my hip and my lower back. I went to see a gynecologist privately to have the coil fitted and I mentioned it to him, he gave me an internal examination and, even if the ovary did not feel enlarged,he suggested I had a scan as he thought it cou,d be a small cyst. I had the scan yesterday and my ovary is ok, but they think it could be endometriosis. If I were you I would go to the GP and ask to be referred for a scan as that is the only way to really assess what is causing the pain. My friend had an ovarian cyst and she was in pain all the time for a couple of months by the way.

pain is not necessarily a sign of a cyst. I had a cyst for 2 years and never knew except when it was spotted on a scan.

No pain at all, ever.

If your consultant is dismissive why not ask to see someone else? You are entitled to a 2nd opinion.

Thanks ladies.

The doctor i saw today wasn't someone i'd seen before. He already had a problem with me because i said i didn't want the coil fitted for a few reasons, one being i suffer with extremely heavy & prolonged periods & i've read lots of reviews about some women having problems with it. He told me i have been reading rubbish online & that 85% of women find the coil to be brilliant. Other things i mentioned he kept repeating "I don't know where your getting this information from" and kept talking to me like i was a 5yr old.

Anyway i've got an appointment with my GP tomorrow so i'm going to ask her if she can refer me for a scan. I just want the pain to stop & to know one way or the other if its a cyst or not.

Thanks again
