Look at my foot

here

Posted a few days ago about feeling very run down, haven't been to gp as figured they'll just say get some rest. A few days ago I developed a large unexplained bruise covering most of my foot, in the photo it's actually looking much better than it was. Dh thinks I should go to the gp to see if it's connected to my feeling so rough. Wondering if anyone thinks there could be a link? Thanks.

Yes I would got to the doctor it looks quite large and it's unexplained (I mean there could be any number of reasons for it and it could be connected to you being run down I imagine.) My foot looked like that when I tore a ligament - but I'm pretty sure you would know if you had injured it in some way.

Poor you - is it very painful? - it looks as if it is Sad

Thank you KurriKurri, the weird and I suppose good thing is it doesn't hurt at all, just appeared, only noticed it because it was itching. Will make an appointment tomorrow, bet it's gone before I go though, always the way with these things. Thought I might ask for bloods to be taken to see if I'm anemic.

I had something very, very similar in almost exactly the same place - about a year ago. It didn't hurt, it itched - then it hurt a bit, as the swelling went down and left a soft lump. Then it hurt from time to time.

Anyway: it was diagnosed as a ganglion that had possibly become a little infected - so I imagine the initial swelling/bruising look I had was when it started, the fluid leaking out caused the swelling, and then it sort of coalesced into the 'lump' a ganglion more tradionally looks like.

The GP did give me antibiotics in case of infection, and that was when the swelling went down - no idea if it was coincidence or not, but worth playing safe!

Do go to the GP regardless - its a big area, and the ankle joint is precious, best to play safe. Especially as you've been run down - though may have nothing to do with it.

Is there a pinprick bite in the middle? Could it be a severe reaction to some kind of insect?

I had a horrendous one to a bee sting last year - foot and ankle swelled up and I had a huge red bruise like mark spreading up my leg. That was hideously painful though!

SoupDragon I did think of bite as I'd been out in the garden, but no sign of anything.

Elibean, this started as a swelling too, going to google ganglion as I've never heard that term!
