so,
i have sciatica, which means i find it difficult to sit down for long periods. Im going for physio soon but gp says it's hard to treat :( If im doing work at home i normally lie down on the bed with the computer.

Now i seem to have horrendous back pain over entire lower back area. Why why why? Is it because of how I am positioned in bed to do work?

Im just worried that there's some other issue which is causing this that i haven't picked up on? Im only late 20s. Surely this isnt normal?

Definately change your position for the computor. That will make things worse.

Do loads of gentle stretching especially lie on the floor in the recovery position and stretching the straight leg.

Yoga is brilliant for this.

My back pain started in my later 20's and very much as you describe. I now realise that it gets like this when the muscles go into spasm and every tiny movement hurts. I have never had physio but had several years of osteopathy which helped during my pregnancies. Since then, as I'm poorer (!) I have found that keeping abdominal muscles strong has helped, as has using a gym ball for sitting rather than on a chair/sofa. When the pain is really bad a deep heat patch can help along with Ibuprofen.
