I wonder if anyone can help me please, for years I've been wearing contact lens without a problem, but, just recently I find that they can be a bit uncomfortable as my eyes seem to be a drier than they use to be. I've been to the opticians who says my eyes are fine and it's just an age thing!! (I'm 47) is there anything I can do about this? I'm always wary about using eye drops with lens (I don't know if this is right or not) but are there any supplements that I can take that could help with this problem. Thanks Smile

Eye drops are fine, I use them with my contacts (daily disposable), I also use "opticrom" in the hayfever season as the oilseed rape that grows in the fields makes them really dry. Some of the eye drops say not suitable for contact lenses, but I have been told that you can ignore that if you are using daily disposables, as you are going to throw them away anyway.... The other thing that caused me dry eye problems was a couple of different brands of the pill - dont know if that is relevant.

did the optician do the schirmers test. If not ask your Gp if you can see a rheumatologist. Do you have any other symptoms. Like arthriis or dry mouth.
Eyes can be dry witout appearing dry. It is the quality of the tears that is important. You have grease glands around the the rim of each eye lid and as we get older some people produce less grease so the liquid in your eye is not as lubricant. Water is not a lubricant.

I have just been going through hell with mine and it started when i was 45.
I have had to have punctum plugs put in my tear ducts to prevent whatever fluid i have got in my eyes from draining away. If you have got dry eyes maybe contact lenses are not the thing to wear. I had to stop using mine as they wouldnt glide properly and i felt as if they were scratching my eyes.
