Contraception question...

For the last almost 3 years I have been on depo injection every 12weeks. Love it, its worked out fantastically for me. No periods, light weight gain but nothing to serious...i am due to move onto pill Microgynon 30 ED on 13/4 when my last jag runs out (higher risk of osteoperosis/bone mass loss over 3yr usage).

In the last week/fortnight i have been bleeding randomly, i actually woke up one morning and thought was drying it was that bad i don't want to be all TMI but it was practically black! It's coming and going (small bleed every few days and larger amount after sex), light cramps and bloating like i have period, colour normal now but why now? Why after 3yr is it coming back when i haven't even started new contraception yet...

I don't know anything about you..age, smear results,sexual partners etc...(nor is it any of my business!) but the general advice , I think, is to have any unexpected bleeding, especially if after sex, checked out. Possible causes may include cervical problems, infection (not neccesarily sexually transmitted) as well as others, best to see FP nurse or GP I think.

good plan, I think, just because it's better to be safe than sorry. Don't lose any sleep though, as it's probably just a hormone-ey blip!
