HELP... swollen labia!!!

longislandicetea · 23/03/2011 20:43

I have had thrush which I have treated and has now gone but today one side of my labia is swollen...what's going on? I have had thrush on and off for years and never had anything like this. A friend suggested a bartholins cysis?

I have no idea what this is or even how you pronounce it!!!

Any advice more than welcome.

Thanks Blush

The whole side or just like a lump?

longislandicetea · 23/03/2011 20:52

The lower side. So about half an inch from back to the front.... underneath.

This shows you where a cyst would be

bartholins cyst

Don't click it if you're fragile, its pretty graphic!

A cyst is generally a hard lump though, rather than a swelling. I'd consider getting it looked at if it was me

I flared up like you OP a few weeks ago. I used clotrizamole cream for a couple of days and it went down so I figured it was thrush related. Never had it before although have had thrush many times. Odd.

Thank you for your advice. Things seemed to have calmed down this morning. Uses the clotrizamole cream so it looks like that helped. Will avoid the skinny jeans today though!

Hiya, keep an eye on your symptoms longisland, i only say this because you mentioned you have had thrush quite a bit in the past - i had itching on labia on one side (and down towards perineum) and i thought it was just thrush/itching where i had had stitches after DC's - i left it for ten years and now have been diagnosed with pre cancerous cells, im 40 btw. Im not trying to scare you at all and the chances are its nothing but i had no idea that you could even get precancerous or cancerous cells down there! Im having treatment now so its all good. maybe if you feel it hasnt quite resolved itself go and see your gp, this is what i did after it got much itchier and she spotted it straightaway and referred me to the hosp for biopsy. Funny enough i also have a bartolin cyst which they are going to remove, but this is not thought to be dodgy. hope i havent scared you i just wanted you to be aware just in case my symptoms sound familiar to you.

Thank you napoleona. Will def keep an eye on things. I'm not one to stay away from the doctor as I'm really lucky to have an excellent G.P. I had a salt bath this morning (which really helped) and I noticed that although the swelling has gone there is a slight sore patch still so I will monitor this and hope it goes away.

Thanks again for your advice it's all welcome :)
