Should have said, but it freezes well too. If it's just for me and DH, I freeze half so it's an easy standby.

Am off for a glass of wine now. Smile

LittleGreenFr0g · 07/05/2011 22:47

Smee - yum, that curry sounds lovely. I am a veggie and a curry fan so just up my street.

Lilruthie - like Amber, I have just had my 4th FEC and i've not been too bad. The sickness and tiredness can by overcome by drugs :) In fact this time, I have felt really almost normal apart from restless leg. Saying that I'm not looking forward to dotaxel :(

I've had a busy day to day...all child related...swimming lessons, libraray, country park and pizza hut for tea :) I feel ok, as I said. It must be the streoids that are keeping me going though.

Figgyroll · 08/05/2011 17:35

Thank you for the recipe, Smee. Sounds scrummy. When I'm up to eating spicy food again I will definitely make it.

I don't like this FEC lark. Sad. The tablets the doc gave me to take alongside the domperidone didn't work and I've spent since Wednesday feeling nauseous and being sick. Today it's eased off a bit and I've managed a tiny jacket potato for lunch. My special treat has been mango smoothie lollies (and the raspberry isn't bad either). They cool my mouth and the taste is lovely.

I'm back to taking my temp regularly. Hopefully I wont get neutropenic this time. The DN came in earlier to give me my Filgrastrim injection. What with feeling so ill and the worry of my temperature/going back into hospital, my nerves have been frayed and I am going stir-crazy, not having gone out of the house since Wednesday. Hopefully the next few days will get better.

pinkstarlight · 08/05/2011 18:23

figgy..bless, you sound like your having a tough time any chance you could change your sickness med,i was like you and really struggled with my first FEC changing my med really helped.im useless the first week after chemo so heres hoping you will start picking up soon.

dreading my chemo tomorrow the only consolation is i will be at the halfway point, last time i threw up during chemo and the time before that heaved all the way through very embarrissing especially with the good looking prison guard oppersite me and no it wasnt my guard lol. so im starting the anti sickness today to see if that helps.heres hoping for a much better cycle this time with no complications.

smee · 08/05/2011 18:52

figgy, you need different drugs. Poor, poor you. Was hoping you'd have an easier time on FEC. You still might if you try different anti-sickness drugs, so definitely get them to try something else next time.

Pink, huge hugs for tomorrow. Half way through is brilliant and I'd bet you won't feel as sick on Tax - I definitely didn't, so just get through tomorrow and you'll be so much closer to the end. Taking the anti-sickness before hand did help me a lot though, so fingers crossed it works for you.

LGF, glad to hear you're okay-ish. Don't be too scared by Tax - I actually found it easier than FEC, so I'll wish you the same. Smile

Lovely day here - we've been playing table tennis in the park. I am useless at it. Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 08/05/2011 19:47

poor figgy Sad it all sounds horrible for you
Am back from meditation day- it was good- nice lunch too !
love to all xxx

amberlight · 08/05/2011 19:53

Figgy, I think emend is the best one that others recommend for nausea and sickness. Expensive so oncologists don't offer it as standard, but no way should you feel like that. Push for it or something as effective if you can?

smee · 08/05/2011 20:16

I'm pretty sure Emend's the American name Figgy, so if they look at you clueless, in the UK it's mostly called Aprepitant. You take it one hour before treatment, so rather than have to hang around ask if you can pick it up when you have your bloods taken. amber's right it's the strongest one and they do keep quiet about it as it's more expensive.

Glad the meditation was good, MAS. Did they like the cake? Smile

philmassive · 08/05/2011 21:05

Quick note to say that I did the Race for Life today and have made more than my target amount, thanks in no small part to your kind donations, thanks again. Race was great, very emotional. I learnt quickly not to read the messages people were wearing as they were so poignant, although in many cases full of hope too. It chucked it down with rain so came back bedraggled but proud. Once I work out how to put pictures from my phone on to my profile here I will do. Thanks again to my friends who sponsored me. Next year I'm going to try to jog it!

MaryAnnSingleton · 08/05/2011 22:34

well done phil- what a star Grin Wine to celebrate ! look forward to seeing pictures !
Think the cake went down ok - there was a rival cake which was yummy-carrot cake with millet which was highly praised.

OP posts:
smee · 09/05/2011 09:42

Three cheers for Phil from me too. Sounds fantastic. Smile Smile Smile

MAS, a rival cake?! Shock

cakesandale · 09/05/2011 09:47

Well done phil - am very keen to see pictures!

And thanks for the recipe smee, I have copied it and will be trying it soon!

I am sorry about all the SEs figgy - get better meds. LGF - well done on getting half way. The end is in sight.

Hi to SR, KK and MAS - glad the cake and the meditation went well.

Hello Lilruthie - sorry you are here, but welcome.

Xx to anyone I missed.

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/05/2011 10:57

well, another cake -made by nice man who always brings wholesome but delicious home baked things

OP posts:
cakesandale · 09/05/2011 14:05

Send him round here, when you have finished with him, MAS! Wink

I could go a cake, even a healthy one. I am now a week into my new eating regime and the latest addition is a smoothie maker. I ma supposed to make vegetable smoothies but I am not ready for that yet, too virtuous. Today's was carrot, apple, plum, strawberry and lemongrass. It was yummy and just about all of my five a day in a glass. On my current performance I am getting about 10 a day and (allegedly) the weight will drop off - though personally I doubt it.

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/05/2011 14:57

smoothies sound fab cakes Grin Am not sure I'd like the ones made of vegetables and grass, but fruity ones...mmmm. My dad makes smoothies every day for breakfast.
Am about to start drawing some designs for animals for a website which offers French & Spanish classes for little ones - might be nice- new jobs from new clients mke me nervous though-especially as they are unused to commissioning and want it Quentin Blake stylee- I feel a bit constrained when directed to do that-I think they'll get my style !

OP posts:
cakesandale · 09/05/2011 15:08

Well good on you for getting a new client, even if it is nerve-inducing! I can't write to someone else's style so know sort of how you feel: am sure they will like what they get.

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/05/2011 16:02

hope so !

OP posts:
smee · 09/05/2011 16:55

Cakes, I'll fight you for him. Grin mmm for smoothies.

MAS, new client sounds good to me. They must like what you do already - how can they not. Grin

I'm going to a Young Woman's Cancer group in a bit. First time ever I've done something like that. Am much more into my virtual anonymity. My lovely BC Nurse set it up, so I feel okay about it. Hope it won't be full of fruitloops..

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/05/2011 17:43

thanks both of you ! and good luck smee- am sure it will be full of nice people -tell us all about it Smile

OP posts:
cakesandale · 09/05/2011 17:53

Brave of you, smee. I hope it is worthwhile. I'm still too much in denial to attempt it.

KurriKurri · 09/05/2011 18:06

Hi all, welcome back to lilruthie - sorry you've had to join us but I hope we can offer support and tips. Smile

I hope the chemo went well today Pink, and you aren't feeling too bad - teen agers can perform remarkable tricks with money in my experience Grin.

Figgy sorry the sickness is hitting you so badly, I hope they can find something that works for you.

Amber - I'm glad you enjoyed your weekend, and good for you for getting on with things Smile

MAS - I bet your cake was the best Grin - I'm glad the meditation day was good, - your website looks fab Smile

Smee - thanks for the recipe, it looks really good. And good luck at the young women's group - I met some women from the YWG near us and they were all lovely, (they said I could join the group, but I wasn't sure I was young enough!)

Well done for sticking with the eating regime Cakes, smoothies sound nice.

I spent the weekend gardening like a demon Grin and went to yoga this morning - tomorrow is puppeting day!

Phil I haven't forgotten to sponsor you, hope its not too late, will do it tonight, well done on the race.

Oh and a favour - I've promised to write a chemo list for the lady I chat to on the phone, so if you can think of anything that should be on it that you found essential or helpful for comfort etc. please let me know Smile

smee · 09/05/2011 20:18

Only one fruit loop, rest of the women were quite sane and all okay really. Not too sure what / why I went, or if I'll go again even, but it's somehow reassuring to see other women who've been through similar. The woman I liked most was the Macmillan co-ordinator. She was fab.

Hope Pink's alright today after final FEC. Big cheer for you Pink if it went in. Hope all others okay too.

sparkle's gone very quiet, and LJelly. Am a bit concerned about LJ especially, as she's mid chemo..

KurriKurri · 09/05/2011 20:32

I've always found MacMillan folk to be fab too Smee Smile

I was worried about LJ too, so I have PM'd her - hope she doesn't mind, but I was concerned about her.

KurriKurri · 09/05/2011 20:32

meant to say I Pm'd her just to ask how she was doing,

smee · 09/05/2011 20:44

Ah a woman with a brain - I used to have one once.. Why didn't I think of that, Kurri?! Great idea and am sure she won't mind. Hope you hear back.
