glad to have you safely back LGF -and glad you've been having a nice time Smile -thanks for kind words about Celeste and room.

Cakesandale · 05/04/2011 10:22

Celeste and the room look gorgeous. I can't possibly put up pictures of my house, especially our office, which is looking very squalid today. DH is working constantly and there are so may wires, cleaning is next to impossible, even if i was far more motivated in that area than I actually am.

Figgy, that sounds horrible. I had a similar experience during my fourth cycle and it was very, very dull - and also very depressing when you are in amongst the very poorly ones. Even the room to yourself is extremely tedious. I had the injections too and they are really very good. You may find you can do your own, especially if you have a comfortable buffer of fat tummy - it's a breeze then. You do get achey, but nothing unmanageable, it's just like being very, very tired. And it passes.

Smee -we are off to TKD tonight to see how dd has done in her grading. If all went well she will be the proud owner of a green stripe belt. I may wear a disguise.

SparkleRainbow · 05/04/2011 10:43

Shock figgy. You have been through so much. I do hope the hospital were good to you, and these injections keep you out of the hospital next time round. Big hugs for you, at such a horrid time.

LGF I am glad you have had a lovely weekend with the dc. Are you all right at the mo?

LJ - I will be off to look at your photos again soon. Hope you are ok too.

MAS - the room looks super. I love the wardrobe too, it looks fab with the decor. Fancy coming and doing some restyling here? Celeste is beautiful as ever, just makes you want to reach out and give her a stroke.

Cakes and Kurri - I now have irritating songs buzzing round my head, but I will smile and think of you both everytimer I start singing them today.
Your poster looks fab Kurri. Fingers crossed for ticket sales.
Grin and soccer mum, and I'm glad the boys mum didn't come and "dek yu", although I am not sure you managed to walk out with your dignity anyway Wink

Smee - Grin at the hairdresser trying to deal with your chemo curls.

Yep the deadline passed yesterday. The LA sent me an email offering ds one of two places and two DDA compliant schools on the other side of the county. I rang them up and politely told them where they could strategically place this offer. I then asked them to talk to PDSS and Shropshire neighbouring authority to see if there are more options. Basically they offered those schools so they could attempt to argue they had met their stat obligations, not true though. Anyway good news, a Headteacher of another more local DDA school has expressed that they would be more than happy to have ds, with support, and would I like to go and visit them. Had a little cry at this, this morning. I am still not counting the proverbial chickens yet, others have said encouraging things and changed their minds, but there is a glimmer of hope for a moment anyway, and he is such a lovely little boy, it is heartbreaking to have all these schools saying we don't want him just because they don't want to have to deal with a child being a bit different.

SparkleRainbow · 05/04/2011 10:44

Cakes the soccer mum was aimed at you!, sorry

Cakesandale · 05/04/2011 11:06

Sparkles, you are right, my dignity is at zero. This is quite common for me, I get over excited and my mouth lets me down [juvenile emoticon]

I am so glad the rats have started running, even if some of the suggestions aren't helpful. It shows they are running scared, at least. When are you going to see the local school? I hope it is lovely, and that a solution is found at last. I am quite sure your ds is lovely. His picture is gorgeous and he has you as his Mum, so how could he fail? I have my fingers crossed that a solution is imminent.

Smee - how does your hair look now? IIRC hair that comes back curly relaxes back to usual after about a year. Mine came back the same as it had ever been, but I have seen other people revert to type over about 12 months. The luxury of hair of any kind is something i will never take for granted again. Smile

KurriKurri · 05/04/2011 11:32

Sparkles - fingers and everything else crossed for the school being the right one for DS, and Cakes is right - the LA are running scared, you've put the wind up them!

Cakes - good luck for DD tonight I'm sure she did fine and will come home with her green belt.

I just remembered DS's sports day when he was in reception. The children were all in different coloured teams and gathered points for their teams depending on position in races. Anyway DS's plimsoll fell off as he was running, so he stopped and wandered back down the track to get it, put it on and then happily trot on towards the winning post (in a very respectable last place Grin).

While I was cheering him on a mother who's kid was in the same team came right up into my face and said

'You should have taught your son that you don't stop for anything in a race'

I gave her my 'are you absolutely barking mad' look and said 'he's four' in incredulous tones.

Some mothers eh! (not suggesting there is any resemblance at all Cakes Wink)

Hope everyone is having a good day and people who should be resting are doing just that Smile

SparkleRainbow · 05/04/2011 11:35

I am going to see the school tomorrow morning. The Head just rang me back. She sounded quite nice, although a little nervous about ds I think, and they really shouldn't be nervous. I will see what they say. I may rope you and your over excited mouth in to help with this local authority if we get nowhere this time. I think choruses on Bloody HIT him could be quite useful, well if not useful then at least cathartic Grin

Just keep smiling tonight when DD gets her grading, and avoid the other mum Grin

SparkleRainbow · 05/04/2011 11:41

Grin at your sports day moment kurri. Sounds like my ds, who has never managed to properly finish a race, just falls over. When he was just five he did this for each race, then announced to me "I won that one", because he got to the finish line before the next race started I think! Gotta love him Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 05/04/2011 11:55

sparkle- I so hope that the school and head are nice- am sure once they meet little sparkle they will see how fab he is and snap him up ! fingers very crossed for you.
KK Shock at competitive sports mum !
Have a small job - 30 jokes to illustrate for a bodily functions inspired joke book -ick ! (think wind, poo and other disgusting stuff)

OP posts:
SparkleRainbow · 05/04/2011 11:57

Ooo MAS ds is at that stage where he finds all things toilet related to be hilarious, he could probably provide inspiration for illustrations! Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 05/04/2011 12:27

maybe I should test some drawing out on him !!

This is a bit of a worry -breast care nurses being diverted to general nursing duties because of staff shortages...

KurriKurri · 05/04/2011 12:34

That is a worry MAS, I will fill in that petition. My BCN was the person who kept me sane while I was having all the tests etc. - don't know what I'd have done without her. - My surgeon was pretty unapproachable and a bit clueless about the emotional side of things - just kept showing me survival statistics on his computer Hmm.

Cakesandale · 05/04/2011 13:08

KK - blimey, it just goes to show there are Mums worse than me Grin

Sparkles - i will have everything crossed tightly tomorrow. I am sure they won't be able to resist him.

MAS - the book sounds a challenge! But fun! Coax out your inner child. In truth, mine doesn't need much coaxing, but yours may be more reluctant.

And now I am off to sign a petition....

MaryAnnSingleton · 05/04/2011 13:08

mine was and is a star -she has supported me through all my various probs with my mental health as well as the physical things-in fact all 3 BCNs I have met have been amazingly good.

OP posts:
Cakesandale · 05/04/2011 13:13

Mine too - in fact i am going to call mine this week, as i was due a mammogram this month but have heard nothing....

Cakesandale · 05/04/2011 13:14

Last month, even!

smee · 05/04/2011 13:15

Have signed the petition too, MAS. My BCN was astounding. Am sure I wouldn't have got through it all half as well without her.

Sparkle, HOORAY. I know it's too early to count any chickens, but it does sound promising. Smile How far is the potential new school from dd's. Can you get them both there on time?!

Kurri, that's a great story. Grin I have yet to encounter competitive sports days. Our school is almost laughably laid back about it all. They never do prizes for winning. everyone gets stickers and fruit, so long as they try. Quite sweet really.

Cakes, my hair is a couple of inches long and insanely curly. I had some longer straight bits, but cut them all off, as it was all a bit scarily mullet/ 80's-like. Getting to like it a bit more now, but still wish it wasn't quite so wayward. Agree with you though, any hair is a result. Hope DD gets her stripy belt tonight. Remember not to thump her teachers if she doesn't. Grin

Just cycled through the rain for a swim. [smug emoticon] Must do some work now.

SparkleRainbow · 05/04/2011 13:34

Petition signed!

I always wanted curly hair smee, although not the way you got it!

New school is 10 mins away from dd's school and only 20 mins from home, in direction of the hospital he has to be taken to. Keep an eye on those chickens, but don't count them yet.

Off to a meeting now about ds, at his current school with SEN and PCT....oh what fun I have.

pinkstarlight · 05/04/2011 16:34

MaryAnnSingleton · 05/04/2011 17:39

smee · 05/04/2011 19:53

Will be hard to wait, pink, but honestly the odds are on your side. Go eat a horse then. Grin

LittleGreenFr0g · 05/04/2011 20:45

Good luck tomorrow Pink. I had a CT scan about 6 weeks ago, and was so scared and worried. All came back ok, and I'm sure it will with you too :)

Sparkle - I am fine thanks, and feel quite normal at the moment..well apart from the lack of hair Grin

I'm a bit annoyed as I made a lovely rissotto for tea and went to put on the Pecorino Romano cheese and realised I couldn't as it is made from unpasturised milk! It wasn't quite the same :(
