Ooh, just seen that Sundays are days off. Excellent!

KurriKurri · 04/04/2011 13:29

Sparkles -x posted and didn't see your post Blush - I hope DS is feeling better soon, poor little chap.

Cakes - sorry but I am laughing at 'bloody hit him' you are becoming a 'sports mum' Grin - I'm very impressed at the board breaking - wow!

I'm glad Sundays are off MAS I don't feel so bad now. Actually I felt a bit sick this morning due I think to chocolates and wine last night - so serves me right for pigging.

DH had the 'I'm a Barbie Girl' song on his brain for most of the weekend. I can tell you that hearing it sung in a high pitched girly voice can really try your patience after the hundredth time Grin

Cakesandale · 04/04/2011 13:38

Oh nooooooooo I can hear it now!!!! I HATE that song, you have my sympathy Grin

My dh (and dd) both have had the Jessie J song 'Price Tag' on the brain for days now, and I am sick of hearing ...'don't need the ker-ching ker-ching, ker-ching.....'

I know, I am Sports Mum, aren't I? I am amazed the little lad's Mum didn't come and hit ME, it wasn't his fault after all. DH thinks I need to calm down. I think I was starting to get desperate to leave, it went on and on, DH and our friends were waiting for us in the pub, and my bum was going numb from sitting on one if those little low sports bench things they have in junior schools....

MaryAnnSingleton · 04/04/2011 14:06

yay Cakes ! I'd've probably blurted the same thing !

oh poor junior sparkle- really hope he feels better soon.
I dare not do the Sundays off thing -it's all or nothing !

Grin

Quite right. having Sundays off just opens the floodgates. I am positively gagging for chocolate right now.

KurriKurri · 04/04/2011 15:12

I've uploaded my James and The Giant Peach poster onto my profile if any one wants a gander Grin - It's not brilliant, as I say I'm not an artist, more a crafter (and I Blush in the presence of MAS) but it's reasonably colourful and hopefully will attract ticket buyers Smile

Cakesandale · 04/04/2011 15:14

Absolutely fab!!! Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 04/04/2011 16:02

KurriKurri · 04/04/2011 17:54

His room looks fab MAS - is your house quite old? - it looks lovely. And Celeste - beautiful as ever.

MaryAnnSingleton · 04/04/2011 17:58

aw thanks KK - it's a Victorian house -each room has sweet cast iron fireplaces -the tiles on the hearth in his room are a bit cracked so we put the basketty thing over them -he will have his new desk there eventually

Poor little Sparkle. Sad Hope he's coming through it now, Sparkle. How does that all work then?! Does it sort itself, or do you have to manipulate it. Shock And hasn't your deadline just past?? Any news??

A big "Yo" to Cakes, the Hockey Mum. Though I now have it in my head that you look like Sarah Palin and shoot moose in your spare time. Great that DD won through. A daughter truly worthy of her mother. Grin

MAS Grin at me sloshing the walls with chocolate biscuits. I wonder how many packets it would take to do a bathroom? Am mighty jealous of DS's room. Looks like a safe haven to dream in to me. Smile It's remarkably clutter free - might show it to DS to inspire him. Hmm

Kurri, that Peach!! Would definitely make me want to buy tickets. In fact it's a shame you're a bit too far away, otherwise I would.

LJ, MAS prompted me to nose too and she's right, but she's right - you're both gorgeous, but glam too. [makes mental note never to put up a photo of me and DH] Grin Really hope the mouth nonsense is subsiding and you're on the up. Smile

Where are LGF and Figgy then?? Am starting to worry about them both now.

Pink, thinking about you too. Hope the nightmares didn't revisit and you're feeling not too bad. Let us know. Smile

Had my hair cut today. Chemo curls defeated the hair dresser. She tried to iron them flat, but they bounced back. I did warn her. Grin

Figgyroll · 04/04/2011 20:15

Hiya lovely ladies Grin

After posting last Monday about my high temp I rang the Oncology ward and they told me to hotfoot it to A&E. We got there just before midnight and was seen relatively quickly despite the crowds. They were very efficient -blood tests, constant monitoring, then moved to an Acute Medical Unit for the night before being transferred to an isolation room on the Oncology ward where they looked after me brilliantly.

They think my diverticulitis was starting to get inflamed again, causing the high temps so had IV antibees for a week. But they also checked lots of other possibilities too to be on the safe side. At their lowest my neutrofils were 0.01 but today were up to 2.3 so fingers crossed they keep going up till Chemo No. 3 next Monday 11th.

They've decided to give me a course of 5 or 6 injections to boost my white cells after the next Chemo. The district nurse will do them for me. Crikey, I hope they work - I really really don't want to go through this every cycle.

Forgive me for not scrolling through the thread and reading all the posts - I'm feeling knackered.

Hope everyone's feeling okay. xxx

smee · 04/04/2011 20:42

Ah Figgy, I knew I was right to be worried. Sad Do you mean you've been stuck in hospital since last Monday?! Those injections will definitely sort you for next time. I had them for my last three and never had any problems. Smile

Figgyroll · 04/04/2011 20:47

Yes, the whole week Smee. Shock I started off in a room of my own -telly, own bathroom, views. Then on Saturday they needed it for another urgent patient, moved me into a ward with 3 very very sick ladies, no telly, horrible bathroom and I nearly went stir crazy, especially on Mothers Day when I was missing my own mum terribly. But I'm home now and determined to carry on as normal. It's not an experience I want to repeat though.

How did you get on with the injections? Any dreadful side effects like bone pain, which I've read about?

MaryAnnSingleton · 04/04/2011 21:06

you poor girl figgy -it all sounds dreadful and scary and horrid-well done for getting through it and hope you are ok now- yikes Sad

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 04/04/2011 21:07

Oh poor you Figgy - I think we all rather suspected you'd been in hospital. The injections will help - they do make you a bit achey - (mainly in your long bones like thighs) but they are a lot better being neutropenic. But at least you know now how to react if your temp. goes up again. - Hopefully it won't happen again though.

Have a good rest now you are home - and ((hugs)) for yesterday - it must have been very hard for you this year Sad xx

smee · 04/04/2011 21:17

Blimey Figgy, that does sound grim. Sad The injections weren't too bad for me. I did ache, but only for a couple of days. Which let's face it is far better than a week in hospital. You need treats, woman. I do hope you're getting them. Smile

LittleGreenFr0g · 04/04/2011 21:28

Hi Ladies, I am here! Sory I haven't been around..I have had a busy, but lovely weekend. Spent lots of time having fun with the children. It was real quality time :)

Figgy - wow, poor you? That must have been really worrying for you? Hopefully the injections will sort it for next time x

Pink sorry to hear about your nightmares. I hope you have a restful nights sleep tonight.

Cakes - that Jessie J song is constantly in my head...aarrgghh!

Smee - how long is it since you have finished chemo? Do you know how long the chemo curls last? I still have hair which surprises me...very patchy and has been shaved (skinhead style) but still a fair amount there. Also when are eyebrows/eyelashes likely to go?

LittleGreenFr0g · 04/04/2011 21:30

MAS - that room is lovely and Celeste is gorgeous :)

smee · 04/04/2011 21:51

Hooray, LGF's okay. Smile Good to hear you're doing so well.

I finished chemo in September last year. Didn't really lose my eyebrows/ lashes until the last two sessions. I kept a fair bit of hair because of the cold cap, but then I had masses before, so though it thinned a lot I mostly had coverage, apart from a large massive bald patch on top. The curly regrowth was a bit of a shock, but hey it's still hair. Grin My hairdresser says within a year she'd bet my hair will be back to how it was before. I googled it and that seems to be the average.

KurriKurri · 04/04/2011 21:55

Good you are Ok LGF and had a nice weekend Smile

One of my friends finished her chemo same time as me (may 2009) and her hair came back very curly, - Its nearly back to normal now, but it used to be completely straight and now has a bit of a wave rather than curls. - It actually looks very nice Smile
