YASMIN contraceptive pill - suddenly experiencing adverse side effects

Has this happened to any of you? I've been on this pill over a year and I thought it was great - no side effects, no weight gain.

Suddenly I'm getting horrible headaches and crying a lot during the 7 day break.

I don't want to change to another brand because all the others make me put on weight and have trouble with my skin.

I have been on 6 different pills in the last 15 months with varying side effects....yasmin made my boobs so sore I couldnt sleep on my front, it did also give me headaches during the break week. I'm afraid its all down to luck as the differnt pills have different effects on people, I tried Microgynon for 4 months after yasmin, as I seem to have skin problems too, and that did help, unfortunetly I have had to come back off it cos of the problems it caused me (not that I'm trying to put you off at all), but that might be worth a go...

I can't take microgynon either (makes my skin dreadful). The effects I'm getting now on Yasmin have only happened for the last 3 or so months - before that I was fine. The headaches and crying are very annoying! I burst into tears suddenly and those around me find it disconcerting!

It sounds odd but you might have an odd batch. My firt tree months on Yasmin I felt liek hell, really nauseaous. The neext pack, I was fine Hmm It's worth persevering, which I know is easier said than done when you feel like crap.

Look at all my typos. Blame a keyboard full of crumbs Blush

stoopidquestion - that's a good point - I didn't think of that. I think I will persevere for a bit longer and see whether it gets better. It is only actually 1 or 2 days where I feel like this and I'd take that over getting pregnant!

Headaches are a massive warning sign...you need to go the GP ASAP and tell him/her about the headaches. DD1 started having headaches on Microgynon and the GP told her she mustn't take another single tablet because she was so worried about the risk of clots forming and DVT. In all likelihood you're absolutely fine but better safe than sorry.

My 2 DDs have been it Yasmin for 2.5 years now (DD2 about 1.5 years) and they have never experienced such horrible side effects. There are about 30 different types of Pill so there is no need for you to put up with one that causes you problems.
