Ok so I'm on Clarithromycin for a stinking chest infection. 14 day course.

Also take contraceptive pill (Microgynon)

I KNOW it says on the packet that you need to wait seven days and all that, but I've been googling and discovered that according to the latest research it should be OK.

We use (or rather I insist) on a belt and braces approach and we always use condoms as well so it makes no difference really or it shouldn't but I'm terrified of getting pregnant lol

So, WWYD? Abstain? Risk it? Or just think Feck you're using condoms anyway you silly mare!

I got pg that way, not using condoms too, but on microgynon and ab's. No bugger told me to be careful. I would not risk it personally.

unless the condom splits- which you would see if you looked- or came off, the chances of being Pg are tiny. if you had worries you could always top up with the MAP.

If you are using condoms anyway then you are highly unlikely to get pregnant. The majority of a/bs do not cause your pill to fail but some might do, and strong ones for a chest infection might be in that case possibly. The guidelines don't stay abstain, they say use a barrier method, which you are doing anyway. With any method there is a chance of failure, but in a seven day period that chance is very small indeed.
I am just amazed that you feel up to it with a chest infection. last time I had one contraception was last on my list of concerns! Hope you are better soon.

It is, but I have 2 weeks (well I have a week and a half left) and then have to use another method for a week after that.

Also, got pregnant with DC1 when on the pill and antibiotics so don't want to take any chances.

AND we use condoms and I'm on the pill as well (belt and braces r us lol)
