PCOS anyone?

I had a pelvic scan a couple of weeks ago to check my viability for having mirena coil fitted (have bicornuate (sorry sp?) uterus). Told I had possible cyst on one ovary. Saw GP today who said description of the other overy fitted PCOS and have been referred to specialist. She also said that symptoms of PCOS often = absent/delayed periods and mine are very frequent (23 day cycle), regular and extremely heavy and last for about 8 days, hence the mirena coil.

Does anyone have any advice or know anything about PCOS/cysts. Do they just dissolve as GP suggested? Am trying not to google/worry!

The S in PCOS is 'syndrome' - there are a variety of symptoms which may or may not be exhibited. Apart from infrequent ovulation being common (and hence subfertility), other symptoms which may indicate it are acne, hairiness, tendency to be overweight - someone with PCOS may have any/all/none.

I expect they'll do various blood tests and maybe another scan, then you'll know more.

I've got PCOS and TBH for me its not a big deal - I eeded a bit of help to ovulate and conceive, but then an appropriate oral contraceptive (in my case Marvelon) pretty much supresses the symptoms.
