i cant find my coil thread

i usually check after every period but today i cant find it

what should i do/ should i ask dh to check? or would he freak..

should i go to the nurse? the family planning clinic i had it put it at was where i lived before and im at a new practice now

help!

Right, now I'm worried!

I have had my coil in for 9mths. I've still been having a period each month. Much lighter, but lasts 7 days. This month I didn't have anything!!! I just thought WOOOHOOOO the coil has finally stopped my periods! I haven't checked for my threads for a couple of months now.... Oh god.

I also got pregnant while fitted with a coil. Sorry to worry you but I thought it wasn't possible either. Unfortunately, when I decided to proceed with the pregnancy, I had to have the coil removed which led to a miscarriage.

Which coil did you all get pregnant with?!?!?!?!

I have the Mirena Coil fitted.... I assume you are all talking about the normal IUD?

Yeah I don't think it would matter so much if the Mirena Coil moved as the hormones are still being released?

I only brought home £1050 per month on £17k. If £200 of that went on my phone bill we'd have been fecked!

I thought that the hormones in the mirena coil were to stop periods being so heavy rather than having anything to do with the contraceptive side of things?

Then again, I know the coil doesn't stop conception just implantation so have just confused myself!

pinotgirl, sorry to hear that, very sad

i dont have a mirena coil, just a copper one, hate all these hormones, thats why i didnt go on the pill

just want to get appt with nurse tomorrow over with now

Sorry girls, I had the Mirena coil fitted and I did get pregnant with it. The doctor told me when she put it in that it was the first one she had done, I should have known then . It was my own fault though as I did not go for the six week check to make sure it was fitted correctly although saying that I didn't get pregnant until a year after having it fitted though!!!!

So sorry for you Pinotgirl fortunately my son was fine but I did have bleeding for a couple of days after they removed it and so it was a very worrying time!!!!

oh ,y god! I've hasd the mirena for nearly 3 years, and hardly ever check for the threads...good thing is no periods for past 2 years very little pmt, but now worried about failure rate. My dh will not have a vasectamy, especially since his brother apssed out during his , maybe withdraw congugal rights untul he re-thinks!!

Uh oh nailpolish!!!! Do you think you might be pg then?

I knew I was because I had all the symptoms and just had this strange feeling that I was even though I had the coil fitted.

The doctor at the hospital then told me it probably expelled itself within a couple of months of it being put in but as I never went for my check up it was my own fault!!!!

Oh well, things happen for a reason and I wouldn't have had my beautiful little DS who I couldn't imagine being without!!!!

i dont have any pg feelings, dont feel pg, just keep thinking how easy it was to get pg both times before!

i didnt go for my check because i was moving house and area and therefore dr, and i basically forgot/couldnt be bothered

im one of those "oh itll never happen to me"

my main concern is contraception - ive tried nearly everything else and nothing seems right for me

dh will just have to have the snip - note to self - make appt for dh while at nurse this afternoon

just sitting here thinking that didnt have any real symptoms of pg before apart from missed period (and maybe tingly boobs? or did that come after i knew?) sorry, just thinking out loud

1 coil has fallen out

2 thread has become embedded in wall of vagina

3 thread is there and fine but i just cant find it

4 its rolled up and tucked away in a wee corner

if i am pg it would have to be no. 1 (would it?) so there is not much chance i am pg

I was exactly the same as you Nailpolish, thought once I had the coil in I was completely safe.

Mind you DP has been told he has super sperm and in that respect he definitely did as the little suckers got past the coil!!!!

I too found it very hard to find the right contraception as I forgot the pill, had a bad reaction to the injection and felt the coil was right for me.

Send your DH for the snip, DP had it done and really couldn't believe what the fuss was about!!! He had a nagging ache for a couple of days and then was fine!!!! Contraception free!!!!

Mind you then DP never went for his check up after the snip so there could still be lead in his pencil after all but 2 years later I am not pregnant

no, would there be any point in doing pg test?

i thought you had to wait until you missed a period before you did a test

ive got the dr on thurs so wait and see what she says

ive told myself its highly unlikely and the nurse agreed (unlikely im pg)
