i'm just proper fed up and wondering whether to go to my GP.

For years i've ben prone to having bouts of diarrheoa but since i dont discuss my bowel habits with everyone i just presumed this was normal.

But its just getting worse - i've probably had a day or 2 of diarrheoa every other week this year - today it was so bad i thought i was going to poo in the car while driving home. Its not infectious diarrheoa - i dont feel unwell (apart from the cramping) and in between bouts i go for a poo every day (but have to rush often if that makes sense).

I also suffer with bloating if i eat certain things - pulses really so i just dont eat them (even tho i love baked beans!!). But on saturday had a few sugar snap peas and by MOnday i looked like i was 6 months pregnant!

also am quite windy - this is obviously food related so i try to cut out things which make it worse (oranges + +!)

but the whole situation is getting me down - i eat healthily, i drink mostly water and maybe 2 cups of tea per day, i dont drink very much alcohol, i'm not stressed.

Is it worth going to my GP - I'm not in the UK so could probably get a referral to a gastroenterologist but do those sypmtoms sound like having it investigated?

Does anyone have any advice about how i could help myself?

Thanks

Sounds like IBS but you are always better getting your GP to diagnose rather than yourself just in case.

Google IBS and hypnotherapy....fantastic stuff.

Thanks mumsiepie - that hypnotherapy stuff sounds really interesting!! I used hypnotherapy during the births of dc2 & 3 so am already a convert!

But i really am not stressed (am SAHM with a good dh and no money or family worries) so wonder if it'll still work?

Think i'll make an appt - now the fun of explaining it all in a different language!!
