Please explain to me how the new 'sick note' works. Can't remember what it is called now.

I have been off work for 3 days now but feel I need to see the doctor as symptoms are pretty bad now. Do I have to wait a certain no of days before I can be signed off?

You can self certify up to a week, but if you are ill & Doc thinks you should be off for another week or 2 then he could give a certificate now.

You may have to pay for a private cert if needed for less than a week.
