apologies for the ignorance of this posting....

I'm recovering after a bout of food poisoning. My body is thinking it might like to eat, though the rest of me is wondering if it could ever face food again in this lifetime.

So, what are good things to eat? I know the advice is bland things at first, but what counts as bland? would grilled fish and boiled potatoes count?

carb rich food is recommended e.g. pasta, potatoes, rice, bread, etc. Soup is supposed to be good too.

The advice is usually to start with small amounts to see if they stay down and don't cause cramping etc. but definately no dairy for the first couple of days as it is hard to digest. I usually have something very bland to begin such as redbush tea and cream crackers and build up to toast or a bowl of rice and a few veggies. I used to have clear soups too (like miso)but recently read that the volume of liquid can be difficult for the stomach to cope with.

In the Us they always reccommend the BRAT diet for recovering from tummy troubles - Bananna, Rice, Apple Sauce (stewed apple) and toast. They reckon these are the easiest foods to digest. Basically I suppose treat yourself as a weaning baby!

Good luck
