Do I take her to the doc's?

I hope this doesn't make me sound like a crap mother, but I have had so many brush offs by the doctors I have lost faith in them.... my DD had a nasty cold and cough about 5 wks ago that turned into tonsillitis. At this point I took her to the doctors who very reluctantly gave her some antibiotics. She has been well again for about a week and this weekend has started coughing really badly again especially at night.(4 or 5 hrs continuously) When she gets upset she makes noises similar to the whooping cough noise... I am sure it isn't whooping cough cos she only gets like it when she is crying. DO I bother taking her to the doc's just to be told that her "chest is clear" and there is nothing to be done. Would anyone think sod them and take her anyway. Sorry if this sounds crap but I am so disheartened by the docs, they are next to no help at all.

could it be croup? is it like a seal barking? i;'d take her just to make sure her chest is clear.

Agree with misdee - take her just to get checked out. Can you see a different gp in the practice - some are better than others!!!!!!

My first thought was croup - funny/persistent cough, get it checked out. Be persistent with the Drs - keep asking questions until they listen/respond with a proper explanation.

Thanks, hadn't thought of croup... the noise only happens when she takes a big breath in when she is crying not when she is coughing though.
