I have a good friend who has been diagnosed as being bipolar. she has good periods and then dips. anybody else got any useful tips- we just try and make sure she is supported during the dips and that the kids are ok.

anyone with experience of this - it would be great to hear from you. It's so hard to watch funny bright kind friend suddenly crumble to almost gibbering wreck and then pick herself up. Would love to be able to share with her stories of people who are managing the condition and parenting as she is.

Hi, my brother has schizophrenia which is a different condition. He has a fabtastic CPN (community psychiatric nurse) and as a family we have also found MIND to be a useful source of info and support.
HTH a bit. It's scary when the diagnosis is first made but with good support things can seem less daunting. Good Luck.

Bipolar used to be known as Manic Depression - Manic Depression Fellowship website good for advice and info for both friend and for carers/kids etc
