Help - Quick question Calpol/Medised

My 15 month old DT is very heavy with a cold/cough. I gave her a dose of Calpol about 7.30pm then drove my mum home. I'm just back. My DP didn't realise and when I was out he gave her a dose of Medised when she woke up crying.

Anyone else done the same? Should I be doing what the box says and seeking out immediate medical advice or, as she has had no other doses of medicines all day and this is an isolated dose/s is it highly likely that any doctor will say keep an eye on her? (which is absolutely what I'll do) I'm thinking that the overdose concern is if she'd found and drank a whole bottle?

Can anyone put my mind at ease. Have three kids and don't want to contact the NHS24 circus if I can help it (without wanting to sound blase).

DT will be fine.... my DH has done the same, and Jess has been absolutely fine.

Just keep an eye on her, although you will probabyl find she sleeps through lovely!!!

i think it'll probably be fine, what are the active ingredients in the medised?

I remember someone else on jhere saying that the manufacturers ensure that even if you take too much it isn't enough to OD... in case of this jhappening i guess!

I've never used Medised before but I know its safe to give Calpol and Ibuprofen together.

misdee · 23/10/2005 21:15

medised contains paracetamol as well. did u both just give one spoon of each? or 2?

FrumpyGrumpy · 23/10/2005 21:15

Ta. They're both paracetamol based with Medised having the antihistamine part to dry up the cold a bit. I think it is ok, just feel bit guilty.

I'm sure she'll be fine. Give nurofen next though won't you to allow the paracetamol a bit of time to leave her system.

Bet she sleeps through!

hunkerpumpkin · 23/10/2005 21:16

What dose did you both give her? 5 or 10 ml?

FrumpyGrumpy · 23/10/2005 21:17

Max dose of each!

i'd call nhs direct just to be safe. the hospital work out dosages based on weigt rather than age.

nutcackle · 23/10/2005 21:18

If you both gave her 1 spoon of each then i think that is fine, but if you both gave her 2 spoons of each then i think i'd ring NHS direct just to check.

FrumpyGrumpy · 23/10/2005 21:23

Maybe ring to be sure, feel awful. Never done that before. Rotten mother. Don't even know her weight - can you believe that!!! Knew it all first time round. Ta girls.
