Help - Bartholin Cyst

Hi, I found a lump between my legs almost 3 weeks ago. Saw my GP the next day who diagnosed a Bartholin Cyst. He told me it would probably go away by itself but refered me anyway.
So far, it's not going away. In fact I think it's getting worse. I don't feel ill, so I don't think it's infected, but it feels bruised all round and hurts to stand, sit, walk, so basically all the time. (we tried to have sex the other night but it was impossible)
The referral could take up to 12 weeks, any suggestions what I can do in the meantime? Parecetamol works for a bit, as does a bath, but it's really getting me down. Am dreading getting my period this week as the thought of a tampon up there at the moment fills me with dread.
thanks

I got rid of mine quite quickly I sat in a shallow bath and jetted the hot watervia shower head directly onto it - as hot as you can bear and it did disappear quite quickly - I had baths 6 -8 times a day - my mum is a midwife and it was her that told me to do it as often as possible - I appreciate its not easy if you are working - but try to do as often as possible as that appears to be the secret

Hope it clear soon

I too got rid of mine via scalding hot baths - definately shrank each time and just took a while for the final petit-pois sized lump to go.

Thanks for your responses. Pain was getting worse all day so got an emergency appt with doc. Cyst popped on way there, yuck! Feeling much better but have antibiotics to help with infection.
