I know in the grand scheme of things it nothing serious but it is starting to really get me down

Have dry skin and get the odd outbreak around the time of the month but for the last 3 months my skins seems to have gone into permanent breakout mode {sad} small & large spots and dry skin too... have tried some face wash and 'spot products' and trying to let my skin 'rest' without make up etc but it just doesn't seem to get any better

DH thinks I should go and see the doctor which seems a bit over the top but it is starting to affect my confidence and general mood when every morning there is a new outbreak ...anyone else experienced this

I have suffered from spots since I was about 12

They never seemed to follow any sort of pattern, have had stuff from the doctors in the past and went again in Dec. I was told I probably have acne roseaca (think that is how it is spelt) I was given doxycycline tablets, take one a day and they work!

Feel so much better for not looking spotty all the time

it is worth going to the doctor, it really is. Hope you get something sorted. xx

I know how you feel, at 30 my skin is worse than it was when I was a teenager. I've tried all sorts of products from really harsh cleansers to gentle, frangrance free etc ones and nothing helps.
I don't think that going to the doctors is over the top especially as it's effecting your mood and confidence, I think I'm going to go myself when I finish breastfeeding as it really gets me down.
Good luck!!

going, I have just been to the doc about this exact thing Sad. Have had perfect skin all my life and then got spots when pg with DC2 about 2 years ago and they never cleared up Blush.

Doc has given me some roll on antibiotic thing and it is slowly starting to make a difference.

It really does knock your confidence doesn't it?

heylottie · 09/03/2011 21:32

I use the roll on anti biotic - Zineryt it is called, and it really does keep my spots at bay. Sometimes I think I will wean myself off it but after a couple of weeks the spots come back so...

I am also late 30s. It is very depressing. And this from someone who did a course of Roaccutane (the strong strong acne treatment) about 8 years ago. You're not supposed to get spots after this I think.

Hey ho!

oh thanks for the replies ..glad its not just me and that it gets you down too sometimes (thought I was perhaps being a bit pathetic!Blush)

Think I will go and see the doctor after the weekend and see what they say, hopefully they may give me something to help..fingers crossed !!!!

Not just you at all OP. I'm 30 and have terrible skin. I'm currently taking oral antibiotics (erythromycin) and using zineryt. Not much of an improvement as yet and I find it really affects my confidence too.
