Went to see the GP this morning about what I thought was a painful scar over an internal tear and found out that the scar has not healed well and I have prolapse (not sure how bad). Essentially the scar over the internal tear (caused by the forceps) has grown to be as thick as a little finger and sticks out of the vagina, so it rubs and causes the pain for which I went to see the GP.

GP was lovely and very empathetic, referred me for physio. But I now feel quite sad, tearful and wonder what the future holds. I gather physio can only stop it getting worse but won't make it better. Only cure (ok, according to google) seems to be surgery- and it does not seem to be that successful. So quite a depressing picture for somebody who was quite healthy pre-baby.

I am sure I am not the only one in this position, so if you have had something similar, please come and tell me about it (especially if you now feel well). I know there is a ragged bits thread but do not dare go and read it.

I had a third degree tear/prolapse/stress incontinence after childbirth and had it all fixed surgically last year. The immediate aftermath of the operation was pretty awful, but after 3 weeks I was back to normal but without the incontinence etc. My surgeon was fab (Michelle Fynes, works at St George's Tooting and privately). It was definitely worth doing. GOod luck!
