Adenoids out in adults - any experiences? What are symptoms they need to come out?

I am being reffered to ENT for frequent tonsillitis, huge tonsils, crypts etc Am fairly sure they will want to remove (taken many years for me to consider this but its getting worse not better and I want them out out out now)

People keep mentioning adenoids too, am not sure if they only seem keen to take them out in children? I am at the point now where the more they want to take out the better. (Today they could chop my whole head off if they wanted - tonsillitis, some sinus pain and hardly any sleep due to waking up every 2 hours) I also have fairly regular sinus infections, constant post nasal drip.

I cant believe I am the same person who was on mumsnet 2 ears ago hysterical at the idea of a general for a wrist arthoscopy and now am begging for it! I understand it will be very sore but at the moment am on cocodamol, and ibuprofen alternatively every 2 hours (8 and 6 withing 24hour period) and its still agony, the meds just taking the edge off. So how much worse can it be? And maybe hosp will give better meds
