that sometimes gets swollen and sore when you've had a bad cough.....and then the cough gets better but it's (the dangly bit) still swollen and gives you a tickly cough and makes it sore to swallow (have no idea of technical term Blush)

What can you do to reduce the swelling - as it's seriously pissing me off today.

Uvula. I would probably: Drink lots (of water or juice, not gin), gargle with dispersible aspirin (weak solution) or salt water, take to my bed/sofa and eat ice cream.

ahhh is that the Uvula - I like the idea of sofa and ice cream Grin - though will have to settle for the salt water and lots of drinking.

Thank you

Don't get 'Uvula' and 'Vulva' mixed up at the doctors or in conversation. MIL once told a group of people FIL had had to have his vulva removed to help stop him snoring.

oh Iklboo - you cow - I've just laughed so hard I've got another coughing fit Grin

Tis called a clacker* in this house. I'd take some anti inflammatory and have an afternoon on the sofa.
ENT surgeon told me he felt as if he had a tractor hanging off his clacker when he had a sore throat. DD corrected someone who called it an uvula Blush

ahhh - I would have an afternoon o the sofa - but it's the one day in a week I actually get out and have a vague sort of life. OK it's only toddlers - but it's a lovely little group and what with half term last week (so not even school runs to have a natter during) I nearly went insane.........can't cope with another week with no adult interaction Grin

PMSL @ tractor hanging off his clacker..........that's a bit how it feels now.

You could try some throat spray, I have a small bottle of it, it has a little nozzle on it so you can aim it right at your clacker, mine is made by Vicks but I'm sure other types of clacker relief spray are available.
