Bladder/sore abdomen- what is it!

I have had a pain in my lower abdomen and a feeling of a full bladder for nearly a week now. At its worst its like a terrible stitch all the way across.
It isn't too bad most of the time. Went to the doc on monday who diagnosed a bladder infection, prescribed antibiotics, asked me to provide a urine sample and call today if I didn't feel better. Well I called and they said my result was clear so its not an infection.. what else could it be?? (not a problem with bowels in case you are wondering- the doctors keep asking me!)

It could still be an infection because they don't always show up on a urine test. Mine didn't, but I still had an infection because it made its way up to my kidneys three days after seeing the gp Hmm

What antibiotics have you been given and do you feel any better at all?

I have a urine infection at the moment and the antibiotics can take a couple of days to kick in. Perhaps you need a different antibiotic.

Pain and a full bladder feeling are classic symptoms. Is the urine coming out okay, or does it feel as though it's trapped and not emptying properly? Have you been examined for any signs of prolapse?

It is coming out a bit more slowly and I am finding I need to go more frequently. It does not hurt to wee though, which is a symptom I have had in the past.

I feel about the same but monday night I was particularly bad after holding it in for too long during a meeting. it was very painful for about 3 hours. The antibiotic is called trimethoprim.

I am also wondering if it could have been caused by energetic sex???

Haven't been examined yet, no, but I'm only 35?? Would that be likely? It sounds scary.

yes, sex can make things worse. Lay off it until you're feeling better, then be more gentle and use some lube.

Trimethoprim is okay, but it didn't manage to shift my uti completely, so I'm taking a different antibiotic now and that seems to be helping.

tbh it just sounds like a uti. Sometimes when you get into your menopause years things can head south a bit and you can develop prolapses, but I think you might be too young unless you've had some particularly rough deliveries of any babies you've had.

Try not to worry and just keep taking the antibiotics and drink plenty of water to flush things through. Don't drink cranberry juice though as it irritates the bladder when there's an infection present. I have to drink hot water because cold just makes things worse. Keep off the tea/coffee and alcohol for a few days until you're sure you're clear.

Put another urine sample in once you've finished the antibiotics. Do it first thing in the morning after it's been lying in your bladder overnight.

Well just been back to doc with another samlple which was again clear!

He examined me and found the most painful area for me was around my appendix! Now got to have a blood test and see how things are. The doc isn't sure what's wrong. :(
