I have earache Sad

I never get earache, not prone to ear infections at all

the ear feels full of liquid and there is a sharp constant knife-like pain, and not very good hearing in that ear

is it going to go away by itself? Should I do anything?

ow Sad

Poor you earache is very painful Sad For tonight I would take painkillers, and fill a hot water bottle and hold against your ear/lie you head on the bottle on that side to soothe it. If you haven't got a HWB - one of those wheat pillow type things that you heat would do.

You might find the liquid trickles out in the night (it will be yellowish stuff), go to a walk in centre or OOH doctor tomorrow for treatment. You might need some anti biotics.

ouch- its painful.

I took paracetamol when I had one, every 4 hrs and it worked well. I was quite suprised.

Good luck

Take Ibuprofen and decongestants by mouth, repeated mentholly steam inhalations and keep ear warm.

Apart from the sore ear, do you feel well in yourself? In which case it might go away on its own. If you feel fluey/feverish, you may well need antibiotics.

Once it starts discharging, the pain will go away.
