Useful sites for Breast Cancer scares

I have a close friend who has been referred to have tests due to a lump and changes in one her breasts.

She is understandably worried and would like to find out more. Does anyone have any links to sites that give good sound information, i.e. also lists symtoms that could be benign. The only sites thats she has found are ones that list the signs of postives results and as she is showing these this is making her more worried and so just to get the balance any information on benign reasons would be so helpful.

cancer research whole site

symptoms

This is an excellent and informative site, BUT it might be a bit much for someone who is not as yet not diagnosed.

As it says, 90% of breast lumps are benign though.

My mother is coming to the end of treatment, and though it has been gruelling she now has a magnificent reconstruction and her care has for the most part been outstanding. I hope that your friend doesn't have to go through it, and is sorted out soon.

I would suggest she visit MN and post on the Tamoxifen thread, they are a wonderfully supportive bunch of ladies there - and have seen several posters through scares recently. Wishing her well, xx

I found the Breast Cancer Care site very useful

Breast cancer care is indeed very good as soda said. I was dx in 2009 and found its information clear and objective. There's also a forum where your friend can check out advice, including support for those not actually diagnosed with cancer but who are going for tests etc.
