My dh has always had a bit of a clicky jaw well over the weekend he seemed to have jaw lock couldnt open his mouth very wide lol then yesterday he was brushing his teeth and his mouth popped open again but his jaw seemed to have dislocated he had to push his jaw back in and it locked again.

He is saying that it aches and cannot get in at the docs for a few days just wondered if this has happened to anyone ?

Yes, a few years ago. I was trying to get too many crisps in my mouth!!!

It didn't close again for 3 days and took a couple of weeks for my teeth to line up again.

If he is worried it may be worth popping into A&E to get it checked. I didn't bother and now my jaw is permenantly damaged with arthritis and a limited diet.

This has also happened to dh but his is fine and he has had no further symptoms.

Is he a tooth grinder in his sleep? It sounds like a TMJ problem. I dislocated my jaw from grinding. Can you get a dental appointment?
Your dentist may make him a bite guard, but he may possibly need some further intervention by the sounds of things.

I fell over and knocked my jaw, dislocating it. It hurt like hell - complete lock jaw for a while but I managed to force it wide and it went back in on it's own.

I had such a terrible headache for days though - went to GP who said was normal after doing that, and it did settle.

Now, 20+ years later, it "clunks" every time I yawn and mouth opens beyond a certain width, but no other problems at all.
