and wheezing/breathlessness. I've had it for 3 weeks now.
I thought the wheezing was my asthma playing up, but my peak flow is over 600, and I am tkaing the maximum does of my inhalers.
I am not coughing at night and not wheezing and first thing when i get up i am great, the minute I start to move it starts and if I go outside I feel like I am going to die I cna't get breath at all and the coughing is jsut non stop

I'd go to the GP if I were you. There's a lot of bad coughs going around, but I think the Dr's would like to have a prod and poke around because of the pain and breathlessness, especially in an asthmatic (from my non-medic perspective...but had several bad coughs over the last little while...with thye last one I fractured a rib!).

i think you need to see someone today, esp as you're taking maximum dose inhalers and still breathless.

are you steaming (drunk)?

Saltire · 23/02/2011 10:57

I had anitbiotics last week, and finished the dose. I can't get to docs at surgery times as I have 2 under 5 mindees.Hmm.(not right now)

Have been having a menthol steam every day plus rubbing vapour rub on chest. if I sit still and don't move (no chance of that with mindees) then I don't cough as much

Hi

Has your GP considered pleurisy?

I'm recovering from it at mo following flu / chest infection/sinusitis. Treat so far with anti-biotics and steroids ( this is after inhalers etc.)

This time last week I was shallow breathing, I couldn't stop coughing (for days on end!), had terrible pains in armpit/shoulder/breast especially on coughing/moving about - can you take codeine? helps with any pain and suppresses cough............

(Pleurisy is not generally serious but can be painful - it's inflammation of membranes covering outside of lungs)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/03/2011 21:40

although I've not got the pain this cough is still going on for me too - think it is 4/5 weeks now. not sure. Sore throat is back today. dd is similar as is one of her friends. Seems there is a rotten meanie bug about. With your asthma worth a review though even with a good peak flow.

tulip27 · 01/03/2011 21:41

Have you cheaked your peakflow after you ahve been outside and had your coughing fit?

Saltire · 02/03/2011 16:31

Tulip - peak flow has repeatedly been between 500-600 (my usual)
