Chloramphenicol - buy over the counter for children?

I have tried to buy this in the past, but when I have (stupidly) said it was for a child they said no, you cannot buy.

I spoke to my son's eye specialist on the phone yesterday and she said "buy some over the counter, you can now".

Is that the case, even if I say it is for DS (6)? I didn't really have the chance to ask her on the phone.

I know it is free if I go to GP, but getting an appointment is impossible and I need it straight away....

Thanks

do you have nurse appointments? instead of GP appointments, which might be quicker?

Not to be seen today, unfortunately.

I'll chance it, as when i turn up it will be very obvious anyway who the stuff is for....

I've bought it for dd before and she's 4.

I had a quick look on their website and it says for 2+ here.

Thanks, I got there in the end, seems it has changed somewhere in the last few years... that is the one they offered me, Optrex. I had not realised they made this stuff, was only aware of the eye wash stuff. Good to know for future..
